Mobile gaming

May 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Is it the new avenue for gaming these days? Has mobile moved far enough for people to have a pleasant experience on their phones yet?

I’ve been looking at mobile games, and some of the platforms, and some of the games.

It’s worth looking at for the future, to see how things  are moving forward. I think it’s the new avenue. Portability is the next avenue. You can play games any time, anywhere (unless you are in a tunnel).

Lets watch and see what happens……

Crunch your cards

March 17, 2009 · 1 Comment

Having trouble in the credit crunch? It’s those credit cards!! I mean it!

It seems that living on credit is a new way of getting through life, exaserbated by the media who constantly tell you that you need more and more to be happy. Well guess what – you don’t!! You need less, and you need to ‘reconnect ‘ with people. It’s good friends and healthy relatiobnships that really fill the hole you feel.

You need to go volunteer, work at a shelter, or a soup kitchen for 3 days,to really see how lucky you are to simply have a roof over your head, and a meal every day.

The reality is, we need to begin living within our means. Playing Bingo online is a small fun activity for me, and I only play with money I am happy to lose. That’s why I like bingo, cos it’s not huge sums, 1p tickets means I can play for an hour or two, for very little.  My credit card means I can run up far more debt and not ‘feel’  it!

So, crunch your credit cards. Pay them off and cut them up. Draw cash for what you need to pay, and put money away for a rainy day. Like this year. It’ gonna be a rainy year, and probably next year too, so we need to tighten belts and be careful.  Credit cards are for people who don’t know how to creat fulfilling lives with real people in a meaningful way.

Don’t be one of them!

Big Bingo win!

November 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well, someone won the Clover Rollover Jackpot the other week.  It went up to £1.5 million plus, and now it’s at £120 334.83 ( as of 5 seconds ago) which means that some lucky sod managed to bag over £1.5 million pounds!

Weyhey! I’d be a happy camper if I were that person, and I wish them well. Obviously they haven’t wanted to make it public, or it would have been all overthe papers – well the bingo ones anyway – so there you go, Roll on Clover Rollover!

So, the shops are desperate for retail pounds , or your share of them, so M & S have a 20 % off sale today only.  Many of the shops are following suits, like BHS and others , so if I were you I’d go have a look around today if you have the time.

You might find bargain , or you might be tricked into getting 20 % off now, and then they offer 25 %  five days before Xmas.

Looking for a job when times are tough.

November 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well, we’ve all been there, looking for a job in a market that doesn’t exactly call out for you. In current circumstances, with the newspapers screaming ‘recession’ and the companies cutting jobs (Virgin media announces 2200 job losses last night) it’s not the best time to be looking for a job, or maybe it is. I don’t know, call me mad, but I like to be able to look at the up side of it all.

In current circumstances, the market is highly competitive. There are usually more applicants than jobs, and supply exceeds demand.   See this as a plus.  Companies will only hire the very best – because they can. If that’s you, you are in demand still, and a few companies will be interested, not just one.

Remember that  job hunting is sales, and although you’re probably not a salesperson, the person that best know you is you, so sell you good attributes.  You more than likely are an accountant, a factory worker, a technical specialist, or a manager.  Even if sales is unfamiliar, uncomfortable territory, look at it as an opportunity to tell people about what you‘re really good at.

Focus on companies you really want to work with, and approach them. It’s likely they’ll be trying to save costs by not using recruitment firms at the moment, so your pro-active approach will make them sit up and notice you hopefully. Also, it’ll save them money, which means you could negotiate your package higher, based on the savings they’ll be making.

Make sure your CV / resume is well written, concise, and has contactable references. It’s also important to ask around all your friends to see if they know of any positions available that would suit your skill set. That’s networking, and friends are generally quite happy to help out friends.

Surf the web for companies that are advertising jobs on their corporate web site.

Use the web as a reference to learn about the company before you go to the interview, and make sure you get the interviewer’s name right. Use it in the interview a few times, and make sure they know your name.

There are a lot of resources on the web when you are hunting, so use them all, and the best advice is to go for the job you love doing , it’ll make all the difference!

National Novel Writing Month

November 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Go on, you can do it – you can write a Novel – it’s a doddle.

Just pen about 25 000 words (at least) and send it off, and wait fro the money to come rolling in. I’m going to, so watch this space.
