In Finland, they have decided to have bins that say ‘thank you’ once you have deposited your litter in them. If successful, they will roll the idea out across the country. Polite bins.
I hope the don’t bring them here – I’m not sure I can stand too many things talking to me any more. Where has peace and quiet gone????
When I get into the tube, the lady yells at me – and in the bus she sings to me ( I don’t mind that so much as I used to get lost on buses all the time not knowing where I was). When I get home, the bingo roomies ‘chat’ to me, and the bingo noises laugh, ‘woohoo’ and clap for me – which I don’t mind so much cos if I want quiet then I just turn that feature off. But I can’t turn the other sounds off, and I can’t imagine the fright I might get if the bins started talking.
So, with any luck, the Polite bing Project will be limited to Finland, and we’ll get the usual weekly bin noise consisting of the bin men yelling at each other as they collect the trash, and I’ll be grateful for small mercies.
