Having trouble in the credit crunch? It’s those credit cards!! I mean it!
It seems that living on credit is a new way of getting through life, exaserbated by the media who constantly tell you that you need more and more to be happy. Well guess what – you don’t!! You need less, and you need to ‘reconnect ‘ with people. It’s good friends and healthy relatiobnships that really fill the hole you feel.
You need to go volunteer, work at a shelter, or a soup kitchen for 3 days,to really see how lucky you are to simply have a roof over your head, and a meal every day.
The reality is, we need to begin living within our means. Playing Bingo online is a small fun activity for me, and I only play with money I am happy to lose. That’s why I like bingo, cos it’s not huge sums, 1p tickets means I can play for an hour or two, for very little. My credit card means I can run up far more debt and not ‘feel’ it!
So, crunch your credit cards. Pay them off and cut them up. Draw cash for what you need to pay, and put money away for a rainy day. Like this year. It’ gonna be a rainy year, and probably next year too, so we need to tighten belts and be careful. Credit cards are for people who don’t know how to creat fulfilling lives with real people in a meaningful way.
Don’t be one of them!

Researchers and parents all over the world were shocked and appalled after studies showed that contrary to expectations, the smarter your kids are, the more likely they are to have drinking problems later in life.
After regaining their composure, the investigators from the University of Glasgow in Scotland called for further examination of this apparent phenomenon, “given that these findings ran counter to our expectations.”
Now I don’t know whether that’s the way independent studies roll, but surely you can’t demand a do-over just because you don’t like the outcome of something. I don’t like the way my thighs look right now, but that doesn’t mean I get to demand a do-over…! (although I would if I could!)
But back to the study…. These public health experts assessed the childhood mental ability scores of over 8,000 men and women in their 30s. This is when they found that the higher the IQ, the higher the likelihood of developing a drinking problem. The correlation existed even after factoring out socio-economic status, and was stronger in women than it was in men.
So maybe this should be a lesson for parents who can’t stop bragging about how smart their kids are (as opposed to those who just sit silently and pray that their kids don’t end up as a cross-dressing crack addict in juvie before the age of 15).
Your darling probably isn’t going to become a lawyer. But he might end up drinking like one…
Note: This study explains a lot about my binge drinking escapades when I was younger. Smart girl + too much partying = some pretty bad choices. However, this also sums up just about every kid in every college and university in the world!
Luckily I’ve ’sowed my wild oats’ and settled down to more worthwhile exploits like online Bingo. I don’t have the grey hair or wrinkles (well, not many) that most people think of when they think Bingo. Now – a – days online is far more ‘hip’, but at least I’ve calmed down to a mild- ‘er’ type!

I always jokingly say that I drank myself stupid in my younger years, which is why I now forget people’s names / wouldn’t dream of studying further / can’t understand how the hell Sudoku works.
But it turns out that it’s true. I mean, I always suspected that drinking too much makes you stupid (and not just ACT stupid). But I didn’t need to have it thrown in my face like this…
Scientists in Washington have proven that the more you drink, the more your brain shrinks. And what upsets me more, is the fact that once again, this is more pronounced in women than in men.
Ok, so nobody forced me to down my body weight in whiskey/tequila/cheap wine/shooters until my late 20’s. But it still sucks that my brain has shrunk more than all my virtually-alcoholic ex-boyfriends.
Or does it? Researchers say that overall, brain volume declines with age at an estimated rate of about 2% per decade. And those who drink more than 14 drinks per week have a brain that is on average 1% smaller.
So we’re not talking about losing our fine motor skills overnight. And since I used to enjoy at least 14 drinks PER NIGHT, that’s a relief.
I can’t live without a good red wine when I’m feeling indulgent, a cheap red wine when I’m broke and feel like getting pissed, a celebratory tequila with my girl friends, or a frozen margarita on a hot day.
But I CAN live without an extra 1% brain volume per decade. Who really needs to understand how bloody Sudoku works, anyway?

An article on how American beggars are coining it in the States got me thinking about the merits of life on the streets.
Sure, compared to the sunny beaches of Malibu, cold and rainy London is not prime real estate for beggars. But once I heard how much these guys coin in on an average day, I can’t deny that I wasn’t tempted to go out and get a mangy dog, filthy blanket to sit on and cardboard with a badly-spelled , heart-wrenching message like: “No job, no food, 5 kids, useles husband” or “Plese give spare change, my dog is also hungry. God bles.”
But back to the facts. In a report commissioned in the American state of Washington, it was found that street beggars or “panhandlers” in the US can earn between $30 to $40 an hour (that’s about £28!)
This hourly ‘wage’ is twice the hourly wage of the average American worker, which is about $19 an hour.
The study also found that most street beggars are not actually homeless. However, they do frequently suffer from substance abuse problems, often have criminal records and rarely have (traditional) employment.
So while no-one can dispute the fact that life on the streets can be very hairy, it can’t be too bad if you spend your day just sitting around holding your cardboard message, bringing in roughly £224 on an average 8-hour day, and then going home to a well-deserved dose of drugs.
Not to mention the fantastic tan you get to show off to us office slaves, and the never-ending supply of new and interesting people you get to meet.
Instead of feeling sorry for these beggars for having no job, I can’t help but wonder if they don’t feel sorry for us slaving away, day after day…

Does it drive you mad when your pooch goes out with you for a walk, and the rain comes pelting down, and after your walk you have to let them into the house, wet, and smelly?
Well here’s a great tip I got from a Bingo Magazine.
Take one of your old Macintoshes, cut off the flaps at the back, attach some sticky Velcro on each side an off you go! The Velcro acts as a belt around their waist and their front legs go in the arm holes. Your dog stays dry and warm, and you are happy to let them in the house again!
Who said you couldn’t learn a thing or two from Bingo hey?

Well, with all the airlines going bust, I’m not sure I should be looking for a holiday at this stage of the game, or maybe I should stay local and look within the UK for a holiday this year. Might save me a few pounds too!
So, the one way to save you pain of losing funds and having to wait forever to save up more for the next holiday is to take insurance out. That way, at least you can claim the funds back, and have another holiday on the funds retrieved.
Or you could put £10 into the Bingo games, and the balance into a really good savings account, earn interest in the account, and hopefully win on the Bingo as well!
That way you don’t need to fork out the extra on the holiday insurance, you’ll wait until it seems a little more ’stable’ in the airline industry, or until you’ve save enough for a less ‘no-frills’ airline, and just about guarantee to get there and back.
Bonus for all I think!

When you look at your life now, do you ever think if what you are doing right now will actually matter in 5 years?
Really?
Hopefully what you are doing will make your life better, and will perhaps make a difference to your family, but is that all it’s about, will you have made anyone else’s life better?
Better yet, have you actually tried to make a difference in people’s lives? As a boss I’ve always tried to care about peoples lives outside work. Personal circumstances. I think that life is a holistic approach, and if they are unhappy at home they are unhappy and less productive at work, and visa versa.
I mean, all the bingo I play, I see lots of people asking advice in the chat, and lots of people giving it. Some is good, and some bad, but I genuinely think some of it makes a difference in peoples lives. They come back to the bingo rooms and thank people, and are really grateful that they have a supportive bunch of people they can chat to.
And you know what’s more amazing? Most people in those bingo chat rooms never actually meet.
It’s a ‘bingo home’ away from home! Family and friends in a chat room, with kindness and support after a long day at work, or with other people you are not so fond of!
Try it, you’ll be amazed by what you see.

Well, I’ll tell you why. Sometimes you don’t want to go out and see the dregs of society.
Really, you don’t!
On Saturday I jumped on the bus to go shopping. Another lady jumped on the next stop, sat down next to me, and sneezed loudly. Asked me for a tissue, when I said I didn’t have one, she then spat out a huge disgusting flem– filled gob of spit, and that was multi- coloured, and too disgusting to mention. I had to get off the bus, cos I was scared that I was going to vomit right there and then.
So I got off and tried to stop myself from vomiting for the next 10 minutes.
That’s why I prefer to be at home, in my clean, neat interior, keeping the strange and at some times very disgusting people, out of my space. I don’t like those types of experiences, and I am still feeling ill after that encounter. Really.
So, I want to stay at home and play ‘home bingo’, because home is where my heart really is. and play bingo?
