Jackpot Joker

August 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Have you played the new Jackpot Joker game in the on-line bingo rooms?

It’s fun, and effectively it’s a 54 – ball bingo game. That has to narrow the odds of winning hey? Added to that, it’s a Jackpot game, so there are bigger prizes to be won.

I like the idea that there are only 54 cards in  the deck, and the bigger jackpot, and so I played last night and had a bit of fun. Didn’t actually have much time, so only two games, but it doesn’t feel so much like bingo, and it seems to be quicker.

I’m gonna go play more Jackpot Joker games tonight, and a few normal bingo games, hopefully I’ll find a few 1p games ( yes, credit crunch and all that). I’ll have to have a bigger bingo splash at the end of the month after pay day, which seems a LONG way away today. Hopefully my 1p stake will generate a few bingo winnings and that will help.

If I win, I’ll let you know!

Comparing notes at Tesco, Sainsburys, Marks and Spencers, and Lidl

August 4, 2008 · 3 Comments

Instead of trying to miss the weekend crush, I decided to go and try have a look in all the shops on the weekend.  I didn’t do this expressly, but because I was looking for charcoal for a summer barbecue. This necessitated the need for me to go to 9 shops in total, but it gave me the chance to look at the 4 big ones on the same day.  This is not ordinarily the type of thing I’d do unless I was being paid for this research mind you.

I learnt a few new interesting things. Lidl is very cheap, but the racks need some sorting through before you find what you are looking for . Many of the items are in different languages, so you can’t be exactly sure sometimes that you are buying the right thing. What looks like peppermint tea may definitely not be.

Sainsburys is a pretty store, clean, and organised – and the only one with charcoal out of all of them.  Yay for Sainsburys.

Marks and Spencers opens up half an hour before trading times. Clever marketing ploy, gives you more time to choose what you want, and means that when the tills open, there are already people standing there waiting to play – cashing in the second trading hours are allowed. Bright move that is.

Tesco is as always very busy, queues move quickly, and most of the shelves look pretty neat. The marked down shelf, where they put all the  ‘bargain buys’ is my best every time. I generally eat that food on the day so it’s a great buy for me. No charcoal there though.

I must admit, there is  a good reason why I hermit on the weekend and rather play Bingo or skill games online than squash through the masses. One is far more enjoyable than the other, but the exercise was valuable, and now that I’ve done it I don’t have to do it for ages again. I’ll go back to my friends in Bingo.

How to beat the credit crunch.

July 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Is the credit crunch hurting your pocket a little too much? Or those evenings out costing a bit more than they should? Looking for a cheaper alternative? Well, I might just have the answer for you.  When last did you have a fun evening IN with your mates, playing games like Poker, Bingo and other types of things.

Ebay sells a great little Electronic Bingo game for as little as approx  £2.50 (plus  P & P) and all you have to do is invite 6 or so of your friends over, tell them each to bring a snack and a bottle of their favourite tipple, and have fun!

You can also get a Poker set from Ebay, chips and all included, and a lovely box that holds the set together so you can pack it away neatly after your fun filled evening.

Of course, there is always the fall-back of a DVD evening, but in my opinion it’s not as interesting, cos you actually barely get to chat to your friends, you kind of just hang out on the couch and ‘veg’, more than have fun together. Still, it’s cheaper than all of you going to the movies for the evening, and then going out for a drink afterwards.

Save money, have fun and stay at home, how can you beat that?
